This week's top ten topic is:
  Top Ten Resolutions for 2016

1. Edit the First Draft - I think the biggest goal and resolution of this year is going to be tackling the edit of my first-draft. I've talked a little bit about my writing journey here, here, and here. My goal last year was to finish my first draft by the end of December. I didn't quite make it. The first-draft won't be done now until the end of this week. But! Starting the second week of January it's all about the editing process, which is where the real work begins.

2. Consistent Blogging - I am not a consistent blogger (GASP!). I'm not. I'll go from posting once every day for two weeks to posting once a week for a month, back to posting again frequently, and then back to once a week.

I lend this erratic posting schedule to the many other busy things that happen in life. Being the reasonable, responsible, and practical adulty like child that I am (*snort*) I don't think for even a moment that I won't be busy in 2016. HOWEVER, I've mapped out a schedule that's looking less bipolar, and it's giving me joy tingles.

3. Reading 100 Books - It was my goal in 2015, but due to several crazy months I got behind and managed to pull 80. Still 5 more than 2014, but not quite my goal. I've got a schedule for that too.

4. 80% on Netgalley - When I first started Netgally I did what most newbies do and I requested a BUNCH of books all at once. Many of these books weren't really that interesting to me, I was just drunk with power! Now those not-so-interesting books are sitting on my archived shelf anchoring down my rating. I'm on 50% as we speak. 10 more books should pull me up. Sadly, those archived "not-gonnas" are just going to have to stay dusty.

5. Buy a House - Totally not book related, HA! It's one of those things that pops up in your life suddenly. For me, it took a while but I guess I'm finally prepared. Big Guy and I will be looking in early 2016 and WE WILL find a place. I'm beyond picky, so it's going to be interesting. We very much want to build our dream house (I already have the design and floor plan ready to go!) but need some transition time. New House Need # 1 - Built In Shelves!

6. Keep Sewing- After so many years of owning a sewing machine and being able to make only the simplest of things, I finally found my groove with rag quilts this year. Next year I hope to be tackling something a little more difficult!

7. Attend BEA Bloggers Conference OR Fantasy Con -I've wanted to do it for years now. Unfortunately since the two of them are so close together (May and June) and I live far far away from both I've got to choose. Big Guy will probably vote for Fantasy Con, but either way one of these conventions is in our future!

8. Organize Bookshelves - Those pesky shelves are super crowded. I haven't purchased a new shelf in a LOOOOONG time. Mostly because I'm holding off for those built ins. *dreamy eyes*. The book situation, though, is out of hand and it's time to organize those puppies. So at some point this year I'll dump them (read: place them delicately) on the floor and get them properly situated so it's not so hard to find everything.

9. Vlogging - This is a resolution that I had last year, and I even bought a special new camera to help me out. A few weeks after purchasing said camera the charging cable got misplaced and we have NEVER FOUND IT. Now that I've finally gotten off my keister and purchased a replacement battery charger I can actually turn my new camera (which is now over a year old but has only been used a few times) back on. So I'm going to try to get that show on the road!

10. Laugh more - This one may seem kind of silly. I do laugh and I smile a lot. I'm a happy go lucky person most of the time, I think, but there's always room for happier thoughts and less worry. That's a goal for this year. To laugh more and live bigger and love life as much as possible. Then a little more the next year, and a little more the next year, and so on and so forth until people hate being around me because I'm obnoxiously joyful.

What are some of your 2016 resolutions?

Let's Be Friends!

Auggie is the 29 year old whirlwind owner of Auggie-Talk. A bibliobibuli by nature and a (potentially obsessive) lover of Diana Wynne Jones and Neil Gaiman. Not so secrety secret: She's been known to consume too much caffeine leading to hyperactive rants about her heinous lack of shelving and the high likelihood that Hermione Granger is her spirit animal.

  1. I actually have to get new bookshelves, so it definitely have a reason to re-organize my selves. And vlogging, how exciting! Great list, Auggie. :)

  2. I love the laugh more resolution! That's lovely! :-)

  3. I have the same problem with Netgalley! Now I have quite a few books I'm not really that interested in sitting on my to-read shelf. I feel so bad about it. I think I'm at about 60%. I recently bought a new camera too, and I would love to start filming, vlogging, and so on but I have NO experience with it and no clue what to do.

    Good luck!

  4. Sounds like some great goals. Good luck looking for a house - that is never easy. Ours kind of fell in our lap and it wasn't everything we needed, but we were in a hurry to get a yard for our dog.

  5. Good luck with the house hunting! Heres to hoping you get a whole room dedicated to your books :) I'm going to BEA this year and absolutely cannot wait, it'll be so much fun! And good luck with editing your first draft :)

  6. Gosh, good luck with buying a house! That's such a huge resolution: I hope it goes brilliantly for you. I'm definitely adding organising bookshelves to my resolutions - it's the one thing that I really, really need to do.
    Good luck, and happy 2016!

  7. Good luck with your resolutions! I wish I would have thought of the bookshelves thing before buying a house- I could use more shelves. :)

I'm also thinking of tackling Netgalley. I've blogged for a while but don't do ARC's, and I've heard not to go crazy when you sign up. I'll have to restrain myself.

    Have a great week!

  8. Yay I love vlogs. Can't wait to watch them get filming :) my goal is to read 100 books as well :) Good luck.

  9. BEA would be so much fun to attend. It's on my bucket list, for sure! Good luck with all of your goals!

  10. Great list of resolutions! First of all, congrats on almost finishing your first draft! I hope the editing goes well. I felt that Netgalley power too hard; my rating is pretty abysmal. I hope that whichever convention that you choose will be amazing and tons of fun.

I hope this year brings you a ton of smiles and laughs; you deserve it <3

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  11. I need to organize my bookshelves in the coming days/weeks! SO BAD. I wish I'd thought to add that one to my TTT now XD I attended BEA the last three years but sadly, I won't be doing so this year. I hope you get to attend a bookish conference in 2016 - BEA was a highlight of a lifetime for me and one that I wish all the bloggers could experience!! Good luck with your reading goals, blogging goals, life goals and everything :) Oh and thanks for stopping by yesterday!

  12. Good luck on all your 2016 resolutions!

  13. Fantastic Goals!
I am also trying to work to at leas 80% on NetGalley and to blog consistently. I actually have the exact same problem you're talking about, so happy to hear that i am not the only one that does that :)

I wish you the best of luck to complete all your goals :)

  14. Attending BEA would be a blast!!

Here's a link to my TTT post for this week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2016/01/top-ten-tuesday-top-ten-resolutions-i.html

  15. Wow, first, your blog design is FABULOUS! I actually like sewing too and I starting knitting last year, I'm hoping to continue with that. I want to try to get into ARCs this year, but I have like zero experience, we'll see how it goes, I'm not sure... I hope you'll be able to fulfill your resolutions, good luck and happy new year! :)

  16. Great list, Auggie! Being consistent is one thing I've kept up in blogging and for me personally, I think it's been a good thing though every blogger has to find the right method and I respect that. I agree about editing and organizing those bookshelves - that's high on my must list as well.

Good luck with vlogging. I've considered that, but each time I step towards it, I take 10 steps back! :D

Thank you so much for visiting Dreaming Under the Same Moon, Auggie. I appreciate your visit and comment. Happy 2016! :)

  17. I love the sound of these goals! Laughing more especially. I vlog - or at least booktube and I really like it. It's taken a while for things to get off their feet but I think things are progressing with my channel and I hope to push that further this year. I also hope you can organise those bookshelves and manage blogging as well. Sounds like a good combination of things both bookish and real life related!
