Tori Review: "Rescuing the Bad Boy" by Jessica Lemmon

Happy Thursday, Book Babes!

After officially reaching the 50k word goal for NaNo, I celebrated by buying myself a new bookcase. OF COURSE! *flails around in wild glee*

NaNoWriMo2015 may be over, BUT my first draft isn't complete. However, I'll be throwing reading back into the mix now that it isn't a wild race to the finish. The goal is to have my first draft completed by mid December, so that gives me some time to chillax with a good book or 10.

You'll be seeing my reviews back in the mix with Tori's in a few days! Weeeeeeeeeeee!

Summary:

NOT ALL SCARS HEAL

For Donovan Pate, the lake town of Evergreen Cove is a minefield of tough memories—including the day he had to let go of Sofie Martin. Years later, he still can’t forget the taste of her lips and the feel of her killer curves. He knows he’s too damaged, that he should stay away for her own good. But what the head says and the heart wants are two very different things…

Seven years ago, Donovan broke Sofie’s heart. Now her career depends on playing nice in order to pull off the charity fundraiser of the decade. She vows to keep things professional…yet working by his side every day doesn’t make it easy to fight temptation, and it isn’t long before she finds herself falling for this bad boy all over again. But loving Donovan means helping him face his past–so they can fight for a future together.

Fantastic! Highly Recommend!

You never can quite tell what the second book in a series will bring. Will it live up to your lofty expectations after the first completely blew you away? Or will the new characters steal your heart as well? I was, however, exceedingly pleased to find that the second book in the Second Chances series was just as delicious as the first!

Yippee! Yes, I just said that and don’t you make fun. This girl is going to gush. Again.

We met Sofie in Bringing Home the Bad Boy as one of Charlie’s gal pals. We knew that she had a heavy past with one bad boy, Donovan Pate. But I was completely blown away to find out just what transpired between the two. After falling for said bad boy, and giving him her virginity…let’s just say that the evening took a turn that had you wanting to smack Donovan upside the head right along with Sofie.

7 years later, Donovan comes crashing back into Sofie’s life when his grandmother passes away and he returns home to sell Pate Mansion. Issue numero uno: Sofie has a signed contract stating that her massive charity fundraiser located at said mansion…will continue as planned, with or without Donovan’s blessing. Once Donovan learns that the event is to raise money for an organization that helps abused children, he can’t continue to grumble any longer.

I enjoyed watching Donovan slowly start to thaw and it broke my heart to learn about his past. Trying to save a man with so much stone built around his heart is no small feat. But Sofie…I admired her for deciding to fight. The question is: will Donovan stay or will he let his past send him running again?

The chemistry Lemmon was able to portray between our two main characters never ceased its amazing sizzle. I knew there was more than one reason I loved libraries. Just kidding. Sort of.

5 very heartfelt quills to Rescuing the Bad Boy!

I’ve found myself a new author to adore and I can’t wait to dig in to A Bad Boy for Christmas. Early present to me. Who care’s that it’s still November. Not this girl.

Happy Reading!

I am a 25 year old tiny oddball of a woman. I have come to expect that life rarely listens when you huff and puff your way around like some surly old she-wolf. So instead, I have learned to embrace that which makes me quirky. I’m quite a lover of chocolate in all its forms and I ardently believe that it can indeed be served for breakfast. My oven, however, is strictly for shoes.
