Feature and Follow Friday

Whew!

The craziness continues here in Auggie-land, but I'm getting excited about the approaching Christmas holiday and things are falling into place for a great Christmas season.

I am in the middle of a pretty big read right now and with such little free time until after the holidays it's going to take me a while to finish it. I have a few books on back-stock for reviews but I don't want to all-out it so I'm spacing out for a bit or two.

BUT! I do want to keep up the weekly meme participation. This at least will keep me accountable to posting a few times a week during this holiday stretch!

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by parajunkee and alisoncanread! I hope you'll join this great little Find and Follow party!

WEEKLY QUESTION

Q: Activity! Who do you want to be? If you could choose any character from a book. What do you think that character looks like and what do you have in common?

Wow, this is really hard question! There are a lot of characters I think that I would get a long with, and probably some I could picture myself being very similar to.

Right now I'm really enjoying the character I'm reading in "A Discovery of Witches". She's an extremely smart woman, down to earth, loves the library, has incredible amounts of potential and power (doesn't let it go to her head), and is very self-sufficient/non-lonely.

At this point I do find her a bit dull. However, I'm sure that she's going to blossom into an amazing heroine with a lot of strengths and believable flaws. I see a lot of myself in her somewhat reclusive and "I'm perfectly happy in this ancient end of the library with obscure books that mean nothing to anyone but me" personality.

She is definitely in denial, though, about herself and I think that is something that we wouldn't have in common. I embrace the meness of me and she, well, doesn't.

As far as her looks, they just keep changing in my head. I don't have a full grasp on her personality just yet so we'll have to wait and see. She's been ddescribed as having unruly/frizzy strawberry blonde hair,  color changing eyes (think blue, gray, green, gold all at once and none at the same time. Right?), and an athletic build. She's not describe as gorgeous by any means but she's good looking to the person it matters to (The great and wonderful Matthew), which makes her a believable character.

There are so many characters I could have chosen, but she's the freshest on my mind at the moment, and as many participants of this meme have mentioned... a lot of my favorite characters went through some pretty rough stuff and I'm not so sure I would want to share in those experiences.

I do love Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle and Miss Quakenbush from the ABARAT series, though. Maybe next time, girls!
