Cozy Summer Reading: Saturday Stardust

Happy Saturday dearlings!

❀ Next Week's Reading!

I'm going to start adding "Next Week's Reading" to the Saturday Stardust feature. These are books that I intend on getting read the coming week. These books will only be the ones that I picked out for myself and will not include author requests or blog-tour books.

Title: Real Murders: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery
Author: Charlaine Harris
Genre: Historical Fiction
Publication: December 1, 1990
Pages: 290

Synopsis: Though a small town at heart, Lawrenceton, Georgia, has its dark side-and crime buffs. One of whom is librarian Aurora "Roe" Teagarden, a member of the Real Murders Club, which meets once a month to analyze famous cases. It's a harmless pastime-until the night she finds a member killed in a manner that eerily resembles the crime the club was about to discuss. And as other brutal "copycat" killings follow, Roe will have to uncover the person behind the terrifying game, one that casts all the members of Real Murders, herself included, as prime suspects-or potential victims.

Title: The Replacement
Author:  Brenna Yovanoff
Genre: YA Supernatural
Published: September 21, 2010
Pages: 352
Mackie Doyle is not one of us. Though he lives in the small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement, left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.

Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs.

Title: Lives of the Monster Dogs
Author:  Kristen Bakis
Genre:  Fantasy
Published: April 1, 1998
Pages: 304

A group of elegant "monster dogs" in top hats, tails, and bustle skirts become instant celebrities when they come to New York in 2008. Refugees from a town which had been completely isolated for 100 years, the dogs retain the 19th century Germanic culture of the humans who created them. As the dogs struggle to adapt to their new surroundings, a young woman befriends them...and discovers that a strange, incurable illness threatens them with extinction.

Tears For the Mountain

by Chris Rakunas
Next week will feature an author requested review of "Tears for the Mountain" a non-fiction book about a medical mission trip to Haiti following the 2010 earthquake.

It chronicles a team tasked with the delivery of 20,000 pounds of medical supplies to area hospitals who encounter gangs of roving bandits, heart wrenching stories of survival, and a notorious Haitian warlord.

A portion of the proceeds goes to benefit the orphanage in Port-au-Prince where the team was based.

Before the bigger feature and review next week I would like to share with all of you a link to the book trailer and a CBS cover of the book.

Pledged Preview

Also, stay tuned for a preview of PLEDGED by Gwynneth White as a part of a Swallow Press blog tour.
