Spring Reading Affair: Sookie Stackhouse: Deadlocked

Hello my peaches!

I know! I know! Where have I BEEN?!

Well, it would be nice to explain everything but it would be a waste of a perfectly good post. I can tell you, though, that I now know how to place sod and I am sore from head to toe.

I'm VERY behind here, as most of you are already very aware. There's been some serious turmoil happening lately but I've overcome the issues (hopefully) and am happily back on the blog.

There's quite a big IMM coming up since I haven't  posted one. Keep an eye out for that. I'm still going to go about doing TRILOGY TUESDAY and FEATURED FRIDAY since there's enough time still left this month to get all of that squeezed in.

This weeks IMM is going to include a lot of really fantastic antique books that I've picked up. A lot of them are very well past their 100th birthday!

Alright. Now for a VERY PAST DUE review.

Title: Deadlocked
Author: Charlaine Harris
 Genre: Paranormal
May 1, 2012

With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard—especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank.

Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.

I was at the bookstore May 1st to pick up my per-ordered copy of this book. I LOVE this series tremendously. When I first started reading it, I wasn't sure I was going to like it at all. In fact there was a lot of time in between books because I would lose interest... and then gain it back again full force... then lose it again.

These last 3 or so books have been highly anticipated by myself and I'm very much hoping that Charlaine Harris will extend the series out with even more books in the future. I'm not ready for this series to end!

In this latest addition to the Sookie Saga, Sookie Stackhouse is facing some troubles on the romance front with vampy pseudo-husband Eric Northman. Not only that but a plot has been developed to incriminate Eric in the murder of a two-natured prostitute. If that weren't bad enough, suddenly Freyda, vampire queen, has showed up to let Sookie know that she's out to make Eric her consort which would mean taking him away from her forever. Queens usually get what they want and Sookie's in a tailspin while fairies, werewolves, and vampires are all after something that Sookie's grandmother left her as a special gift.

As with all of the Sookie Stackhouse books there's TONS of stuff going on! I love it! I really enjoy the style of these books because it never lingers in one thought too long. Just when you're expecting it to go on and on and on to get to the point the very next sentence gives you exactly what you wanted, the continuation of the story.

I've heard a lot of complaints that Sookie is getting boring and redundant, but I can't agree. I'm even more hooked on the series than I was when I first started reading it. Honestly, it's gotten better with time and I'm hoping to see another one on the release agenda for next may!

If you've never started the Stackhouse series, I'd say it's about time you picked it up!
